“Unity” is intended to create a space where we can connect across cultures, through food, music and dance. Bringing together styles hailing from different members of the African diaspora, bringing together people from all over, and learning, growing and vibing together.

The Lineup: Sharing their Knowledge
TÒnia Mendonça was born in Benguela, Angola and as most Angolans she has danced Kizomba with family and friends most of her life, however, in 2010 by then a resident in the United Kingdom she started to share her knowledge and teach Kizomba outside the PALOP community.
Although TΓ’nia is proficient in teaching both roles of leading and following efficiently, in 2016 TΓ’nia created a movement called “More Than a Follower” with the goal of acknowledging and empowering women and the importance of the role of the follower within the dance.
Always focusing on culture led TΓ’nia to another project. “About Kizomba”, is a podcast on YouTube where she translates the lyrics of Kizomba songs, redirecting the focus to the music and its history in order to give the dance context and meaning.
Twice nominated for best Kizomba teacher by The UK Lucas Awards, TΓ’nia is an highly reputable Instructor that is sought after to teach globally at various Congresses and Festivals.
Bev Flowers is a world-renowned Haitian dancer, choreographer, educator, and international dance influencer known for her musicality, refined sensuality, and deeply connected approach to partner dance. With experience spanning Konpa, Kizomba, Semba, and other Afro-Caribbean and African partner dance styles, her work explores the relationship between movement, music, culture, psychology, and human connection.
Born in Haiti and raised between Haiti, New York, and Miami, Bevβs relationship with dance began in childhood. After losing her mother in 2017, dance became part of her healing journey and ultimately evolved into a greater purpose. Since beginning her professional teaching career in 2018, she has taught throughout North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
At the heart of Bevβs teaching is the belief that partner dance is a conversation. Drawing from her background in psychology, she emphasizes connection, communication, synchronicity, musicality, emotional presence, and the feeling of two dancers moving as one.
Her signature method, The Bev Flowers Effect, blends psychology and dance through subtlety, grace, intimacy, refined sensuality, storytelling, and smooth, feather-like movementβguiding partners into a meditative state of connection and flow.
As a proud Haitian cultural ambassador, Bev champions her mission βKonpa to the World,β helping introduce and expand Konpa communities internationally, including in China, India, Thailand, Europe, Africa, and across North America.
Bev brings warmth, precision, cultural depth, and a passion for helping dancers truly listen, connect, and move as one.
